John McCain's Birth Certificate

Breaking news -- a copy of John McCain's birth certificate has been found and gives a birth time of 6:25 pm. It looks official*. The certificate was found by a conspiracy group attempting to prove that McCain was born outside of the proper U.S. territory (disqualifying him to run for president), and shows his birth place to be Colon, Panama instead of the Coco Solo Air  Force Base.

The birth time looks accurate. His Virgo Sun is conjunct the Descendant, reflecting how much he's dependent on his partners, both personal and political. Uranus quincunx the Midheaven shows his reputation as a maverick. The Moon is now at 2º Aquarius  near his Twelfth House, and was activated by progressed Mars when he was shot down and imprisoned on October 26, 1967.

Follow the activation of his Midheaven during the highlights of his life: he first married on July 3, 1965 when his progressed Midheaven was making an exact aspect to his natal  Juno. He divorced and married his current wife in May 1980 as his progressed Midheaven was trine his seventh house Venus. He was first elected to the Senate on November 4, 1986 when transiting Saturn was conjunct his Midheaven.

His current situation doesn't look particularly favorable for winning the White House. Progressed Mercury square Mars is the dominant astro-event as we near Election Day, giving him a sharp tongue and a zest for hardball politics. Progressed Jupiter at 25º Sagittarius assures a wealthy and popular following, but it's his only favorable aspect. Meanwhile, progressed Venus in the tenth house will oppose Chiron, bringing plenty of hurt feelings by the time this campaign is done.

Hedge Fund Investors - Hidden and Dangerous

President Bush said last week that "In an interconnected world, no nation will gain by driving down the fortunes of another." Of course, had he realized this a little earlier (or had the Democrat-controlled Congress), we may have avoided the credit crisis. Under his watch, American hedge fund investors -- using complex financial tools (OTC derivatives) -- over-leveraged the world's capital assets in what has been called the most significant regulation failure in history.

In the U.S. Scorpio  Rising horoscope, Mars has progressed** from its natal position in the Eighth House  of capitalism into the Twelfth House of secret or hidden activity. Mars progressed into this shadowy realm can be directly correlated to the overly aggressive hedge fund investors who have discreetly risked American capital assets (notably, pooled mortgages) without government oversight or regulation.

Any activation of this progressed Mars leads to major developments in the financial markets. The most recent example took place last week when the transiting Sun was conjunct progressed Mars, bringing the worst plunge in Wall Street history. While the Sun is conjunct this point every year, at the moment transiting Uranus is quincunx progressed Mars, thereby sensitizing this extremely volatile combination to the slightest planetary influence.

The next major activation of the U.S. progressed Mars arrives on November 12, when transiting Jupiter in Capricorn  squares this position. This will probably coincide with major bankruptcies, the first tranche from the $700 bailout bill, and another huge move in global financial markets. The most extreme moves in unpredictable directions will likely be within days of when Uranus turns direct on November 26 while only 0º03' from its exact link to the U.S. progressed Mars.

Brooke Burke, DWTS Winner?

Although former NFL tackle Warren Sapp moves extraordinarily well for a 300-pounder, model Brooke Burke and her professional partner Derek Hough are the clear frontrunners in this season's Dancing with the Stars. Volleyball champ Misty-May Treaner had a chance, but she tore her achilles tendon while practicing the jive, and now she's out. Does Brooke have what it takes to win?

She was born with a Sun-Venus conjunction in Virgo (September 8, 1971; Hartford, CT; time unknown), a cosmic blessing that has bestowed her with stunning beauty, and provided her with work as a model, TV host (Wild On!), and pin-up for the men's magazines. As the mother of four, she's also managed to keep herself in good shape, as befits the health-conscious Virgo.

Many models have competed on DWTS, but none have done very well. Brooke is the exception, and she can thank her well-placed Mars for giving her the physical strength needed for the difficult moves. Her Mars is enhanced by a trine to exciting Uranus and another trine to lasting, disciplined Saturn.

According to the astrological prerequisites for winning DWTS***, Brooke is very likely to take the glitzy glass trophy. Transiting Saturn in Virgo is running over her Sun-Venus, which gives her the discipline to make it to the final round. However, transiting Uranus is opposing her Venus in late November, when she may have an unexpected fall or other mishap. It all depends on how well she can balance the innovative (Uranus) with the expectations (Saturn).
