Mars Conjunct Alex Rodriguez:
Alex Rodriguez, third basemen of the New York Yankees, is one of the greatest players in the history of baseball. Yet until this year he has failed to live up to his stellar reputation during the critical playoff season. Well, this one dark spot on his record (if you ignore steroid use and womanizing) has been erased with his brilliant performances in this year’s post-season. A-Rod has been a one man wrecking crew against the Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Angels, demonstrating the exceptional power that has made his reputation. Alex was born on July 27, 1975 with his Sun in Leo, the sign of the star where ego needs for recognition are elevated. His good looks have attracted almost as much female attention as his athletic prowess and it seems that he’s finally at the top of his game when it counts the most.
In spite of his enormous success, included multiple Most Valuable Player awards and the highest paid contract in baseball, A-Rod has always seemed a little thin skinned. This may reflect the sensitivity shown by his Moon in Pisces, which is the most vulnerable lunar position of all. A Leo with the Moon in Pisces can be extraordinarily gifted but usually in creative fields rather than competitive sports. A-Rod’s Mars, the planet of physical activity, is in strong and stable Taurus that is not its ideal placement according to astrological tradition. Mars in Taurus can sometimes get stuck in patterns where there is a reticence to take risks because safety and reliability count more than pizzazz. Leo is the sign of the hero, yet Taurus is more about showing up and doing a job without much fuss. That placidity which may have worked against A-Rod during previous playoffs is certainly not evident this year.
The difference is that Mars is presently in Leo in close proximity to Alex’s Sun. This is normally an event that occurs every two years, with no guarantee to show up in time for the World Series. Mars usually buzzes through a sign in about seven weeks but is prolonging its stay in Leo now. It entered Leo on October 16 and won’t leave until early June next year. This protracted visit occurs because Mars is slowing down prior to turning retrograde on December 20. This muscular planet will rejoin A-Rod’s Sun next February and April, pumping him up again for spring training and the new season. Meanwhile, Mars will remain close enough to the slugger’s Sun to keep him at his assertive best for the rest of the playoffs. Whether the Yankees will beat the Philadelphia Phillies is another question but it seems likely that with Mars on his side that Alex Rodriguez will continue his torrid hitting throughout the World Series.
