In the early 90s, posters of bubblegum rapper "Marky Mark," sporting his Calvins and nothing else, graced billboards across the world. It seemed like the young stud had peaked. But like fellow Gemini Brooke Shields, only one thing got between Marky and his Calvins: a career with legs. In 1997, he burst onto the big screen in the breakout role of porn star Dirk Diggler in Paul Thomas Anderson's indie hit, Boogie Nights. Since then, there's been no stopping the newly-legitimate Mark Wahlberg.

Born June 5, 1971, Wahlberg’s career choices reflect the key elements of his chart. His only planet in Gemini is his Sun, but the Sun represents who he is in the world. As a young Gemini in his early twenties, Wahlberg chose to exploit his charm and good looks. His light, air-sign demeanor made his risque underwear modeling stint seem more charming and tongue-in-cheek than controversial. His Moon in Scorpio, the sign of sexuality, meshed perfectly with the sensual, but controlled style of his employer during that time: Scorpio Calvin Klein.

When he made his comeback (or debut as a serious actor, dealer's choice) in Boogie Nights, he also seemed to be thinking with his Moon sign. The film explored all the debaucherous and deep aspects of sexuality from the point of view of Wahlberg's character, a naive, malleable porn actor.

The Perfect Collaborator: George Clooney

Wahlberg followed Boogie Nights with a starring role in the bland action flick The Big Hit, which wasn't as big a hit as the producers had hoped for. But after that, when he teamed with co-star George Clooney on the Gulf War dramedy Three Kings, he once again received the thrill of industry buzz from the success of this indie crossover hit. This summer, Mark and George have been carried on the huge wave of box office success known as The Perfect Storm.

What makes these two such a powerful team (almost like Batman and Robin)? Well, Clooney, born May 6, 1961, is a strong Taurus, with his Sun conjunct (very close to) Mercury in the sign that personifies persistence and sensual charm. As it happens, Wahlberg has such a strong Taurus influence in his chart that he could be an honorary bull himself. He has Venus  (planet of art and love), Mercury (planet of communication) and Saturn (planet of hard work) all closely aligned in Taurus. And his Venus is exactly conjunct Clooney's Mercury. So when it comes to artistic ventures (Venus) they speak the same language (Mercury). To add to the intense connection, Mercury is Gemini Wahlberg's ruling planet, and Venus is Taurus Clooney's ruler.

These two are so buddy buddy that they are the subject of much Internet gossip right now. Reportedly, they are booked to share a hotel suite at a hip, mid-town Manhattan hotel this fall for several weeks. Planning another film, or planning to party hard? Hard to say, but one thing looks likely: a major change is in store for Wahlberg this September, as Uranus, the planet of progressive and major unexpected occurrences, will be hitting his North Node. The Node represents his destiny in this lifetime. Whatever goes down in the fall could lead to a huge epiphany and new path for Wahlberg.

Major Cycles Ahead for Mark

So what's next for Wahlberg? Judging by his chart, he hasn't even peaked yet! In April 2001, he experiences his first Saturn return (they come approximately every 29 years, so if we live long enough we get three in one lifetime). This cycle is all about making the transformation from cute, charming, happy-go-lucky (translation: young and free) to making commitments, serious choices and working slowly and steadily toward bringing a life goal to fruition (read: maturity). With Mercury so close to Saturn in his chart, it wouldn't be surprising if one of the things Wahlberg commits to is having more of a hand in the writing of his next project, one he cares deeply about.

During the same month, expansive Jupiter passes over Wahlberg's Sun, which suggests that luck and a benevolent spotlight will shine on whatever work he's doing at that time. Pick out a good outfit, Marky! The pressure's on!
