President
Bill Clinton had a remarkable moment of emotional candor on August 10,
when he spoke bluntly about his period of soul-searching following the
sex scandal that almost cost him his job. In a conference auditorium filled with about 4,500 evangelical ministers, the President drew inspirational strength
from the transit of forthright Jupiter moving through his Ninth House of religion, morality, ethics and higher meaning. The last time this
transit occurred for him was twelve years ago.
 Clinton's
a Leo, a sign that craves admiration, praise and honorable recognition.
His public self-disclosure was motivated by his gratitude for gaining
a degree of forgiveness from the American public. It's very hard for high-profile
Leos to handle being disliked or thought badly of by society. Their urge
is to shine in heroic ways, especially those Leos most driven by power
and ambition. Therefore, this president is sincerely thankful to have
his reputation somewhat restored, at least in his eyes.
Jupiter's
Ninth House transit is a great time to display one's faith in spiritual
principles. Clinton thus has the right planetary patterns for coming clean
about his previous moral failings. Much of the work leading to his sense
of spiritual revival took place at a time when Jupiter was transiting
his Eighth House—a life zone of psychological deaths and empowering rebirths.
As our Eighth
House is where we can feel we've hit rock-bottom on some level, Jupiter's
transit, since the summer of 1999, would have been an internalizing time
of much emotional rebuilding for him, especially since his Moon falls
in that house. The inner struggles required have apparently now left Bill
Clinton feeling much more at peace with himself and ready to optimistically
embrace his future.
