On
Sunday, September 2 at 2:43 pm (PDT), the Moon is full in Pisces. This
is the last Full Moon of the summer and a time to consider the change
from one season to the next. By the next Full Moon, we will be in the
fall and now is the time to prepare for that transition. The summer months
charge us with solar energy that lasts through the darker months of winter,
so it is important to spend lots of time outdoors during this time to
bask in those rays of Sun and let them nurture our hearts and caress our
souls. The solar charge will help sustain our spirits if we are feeling
low in the later part of the year.
Grand
Cross
During this
lunation, the Full Moon and the Sun square the Saturn-Pluto opposition that
will be happening until next May. When four planets are aligned in 90-degree
angles to each other, this is known as a grand cross formation and signals
a time of great transformation and powerful potential for spiritual growth.
The Saturn-Pluto opposition, which lasts for the next eight months, heralds
a time when the structures we have created in our lives will have to go
through changes and where we will have to be fluid and adaptable to these
monumental shifts in our realities. The current Full Moon period triggers
this opposition and catalyzes these transformational events in our lives.
We may need to make powerful decisions and sharp turns in our lives that
take us down new avenues at this time.
Pisces
Moon Ritual Work
Along with
the powerful grand cross formation, the Full Moon is in the sign of Pisces,
a Water sign associated with mysticism and strong emotions. This is a
perfect time to make a ritual to work with these powerful energies and
to nourish our spiritual strength so that we can enact the best changes
in our lives. Rituals are done in every corner of the globe to mark important
times of the month or the year, for celebration and for honoring the spiritual
world.
Full Moons
are a wonderful time to do ritual work because there is a greater storehouse
of energy available to us during these periods. Each time we honor the
New and the Full Moon, we develop a relationship with the natural rhythm
and flow of our environment. Like the tides that roll in and out according
to the Moon's pull, we also have times of increased power and times when
we feel more introverted and sensitive. Women have a more keen sense of
this as their menstrual cycles and hormonal levels mimic the ebb and flow
of the Moon. Creating a ritual during a Full Moon helps us to integrate
with these natural rhythms and puts us in touch with the cycles in our
lives. By making a ritual at an astrologically strong time such as this,
we have the potential to manifest our best intentions and visions.
Creating
the Ritual
One of the
best ways I have learned to create a ritual is to honor the element the
Moon is in. This month, the Full Moon is in Pisces, a Water sign. We can
honor the Water element by creating an altar space that has objects associated
with that element. Here is a list of some associations with the Water
element.
Ritual
Objects: Bowls, water, cups, cauldrons, shells, silver, blue and sea
green candles, pictures of rivers, oceans, sea creatures, figurines of
whales, dolphins, etc.
Before beginning
a ritual on the night of the Full Moon, take some time to consider what
issues with which you want to work. Here are some ideas associated with
the Water element.
Associations: Dreams, intuition, imagination, psychic work, trance,
death, love, emotions, intensity, transformation
Physical correspondences: Lymph glands, fluids in the body besides
blood, immune system, reproductive system, urinary system
After you
have decided what areas of your life you want to work on, take some time
to clean your ritual space and clean yourself by taking a bath or a shower.
Make sure that you will have no distractions, sit down near the altar
and quiet yourself. Breathe deeply and consider your life and what you
are going through now. I like to give thanks at this time for the many
blessings I have in my life. This is a good time to pray and make your
intentions clear to the universe. I often like to do this out loud so
that I can make clear what I need to do in my life and what spiritual
support I need. Some people they may want to develop a healthier immune
system. The Pisces Full Moon is a perfect time to ask for assistance in
that area. Others may want to work on releasing deeply stored emotions.
This is another appropriate way to work with the Pisces Moon. The Full
Moon is a wonderful time to do spiritual work and to help catalyze positive
transformations and manifest our best intentions. Good health to you!
