Every spring, inviting “for sale” signs magically appear in residential neighborhoods. Homeowners ready to move want their house on the market ahead of the competition. Sellers know that blooming spring flowers and lush green trees make their properties particularly attractive to would-be buyers. At the local nursery, motivated sellers buy decorative mulch and flowering shrubs that showcase property assets. Even balconies on high-rise condos sprout window boxes and leafy potted plants that entice leisure-loving buyers to enjoy the view. Paint sales increase since owners with the incentive for a quick sale spruce up their homes from the inside out.

A successful real estate agent will tell you that buyer traffic increases in the spring and so does the demand for open houses. Clients looking for new spaces want a close-up look at the detailed charms each listed home offers. Most potential buyers have an idea of the features they would like in their new residences and want to see if these prospects live up to their expectations. The agent’s job is to find the house that matches the client’s wish list and pocketbook.

In astrology, the Fourth House is the department of life concerned with land and real estate. Its natural “ruler,” or planet associated with that house, is the Moon, at home in the sign Cancer, which is also associated with the Moon. However, in a birthchart, any one of the twelve signs can be found on the cusp, or “front door” of this house.

This house in one’s chart, the sign on the cusp and its associated planet and planets residing in the house depict people affiliated with all phases of home buying and selling. This list includes land developers, architects, homebuilders, construction workers, real estate agents and brokers, investors, landlords, property managers, mortgage bankers or brokers, appraisers, closing agents, insurance specialists, buyers, sellers and decorators.

Home Is Where Your Heart Is

Buying the “wrong” house is a costly mistake, since a home purchase is one of your largest investments. Did you know that your astrological chart holds clues about the type of home you might find attractive? The sign on the cusp of the Fourth House often describes outstanding characteristics of your physical home. The planet that is associated with that sign, and any planets that take up residence in the house, elaborate on the style and use of your personal space. You may have unique decorating preferences, or a desire for enough land to garden or install a swimming pool. Understanding your true needs will help you choose the perfect home that reflects the lifestyle you desire.

With Gemini on the Fourth House cusp you might enjoy an urban setting convenient to your favorite shops, workplace, social activities and the city library. Since Mercury, the planet of communication, is associated with Gemini, you’ll want space for a home office or lots of built-in bookshelves. Individuals who have Aries on the Fourth House cusp want one or more fireplaces in the home. The preferred décor, and often the front door, includes shades of red. Scorpio on the Fourth wants a private, romantic bedroom and many dramatic touches. With the signs Libra and Taurus on the cusp, you may have a music room or an artist’s studio in your treasured space. Harmony in the décor is a must.

Cancer on the cusp wants all the bells and whistles in the kitchen and a formal dining room to serve delectable meals in an elegant setting. With the Moon “mothering” this house, you often entertain guests or could have relatives living with you, possibly your mother. You’ll also desire a place to display your precious antiques. Jupiter’s association with the sign Sagittarius means your home is a significant purchase and you’ll expect a windfall when it’s time to sell. With Sagittarius on the cusp you could write your book in a spacious home library with an inspiring view of your tree-lined landscape. Exotic travel influences your decorating scheme and showcases your liberal use of imported fabrics or tapestries.

Owners of Virgo cusps have greenhouse windows to display their herbal gardens and exotic grapefruit trees to accent the home’s architectural recesses. You’ll know a Leo front door by the distinctive doorknocker and elegant brass hardware. With Aquarius in residence, the wiring package has to have enough voltage to handle their sophisticated computer equipment and other electronic media. These owners usually dedicate an entire room to web surfing and video games. Pisces on the cusp wants a secluded garden with a waterfall to meditate, work or write outdoors. They usually favor spacious bathrooms with separate tubs and showers and plenty of storage for aromatic bath and grooming products.

The Fourth House and Your Agent

The sign on your Fourth House cusp could indicate the Sun sign of your real estate agent. My own Taurus Fourth House is the setting for my home-based business. I have attracted three Taurus agents as clients, and several others with Ascendant, Sun or Moon in Taurus who are architects, interior designers, decorators or mortgage brokers.

If you know individuals with Saturn in this house or Capricorn on the cusp, find out if they are employed as real estate professionals. They usually find the best homes for the best value. Get to know them if you’re thinking about moving. Size up their potential and credibility in the field. You may want to enlist their services!
