Simply begin counting at One, for 1 The Magician (Aleph) and at Letter 5 (He) you have Aries, and thus card 5 The Hierophant. If you want to change everything, you really should explain that your correspondences are contrived. |

There is no exact correspondence between astrology and the tarot, there are only associations between the tarot symbols and astrological themes. Gemini and the lovers are thematically connected. One theory of love found in myth is the idea that one's true love(r) is one's soul mate. Ancient philosophers expressed the idea that we are really dual beings who are spiritually separated from your other halves (our soul mates) and that we find ourselves when we unite with our lovers to become a whole being again. In this sense our lovers are our twins with whom we reunite. Regarding Taurus, this sign is associated with fixity and dogmatism as well as earthiness and sensuality. Many of the saints found God in nature and the material universe. |

I'm still confused: What makes Gemini associate with Lovers in Waite-Smith Tarot? In the Greek mythology, Gemini represents "brotherly love". And the Lovers card depicts the biblical story of Adam & Eve. What's the relationship between the two stories? I used to think a tarot card associated with a specific sign implies that it must carry the nature of that sign. But it seems not the case: How can Hierophant, which represents philosophy, religion, and spiritual development, has anything to do with Taurus, which is known for its sensation nature? I assume astrologers have other factors to take into account when they decide which tarot card is associated with which sign.

Each and every month I am so very grateful to be able to read the interpretations of the tarot cards as put forth by Tony Louis. I keep each article and when I am "reading" the cards they are an excellent adjunct to my tarot books. Tarot Plain and Simple by Louis is my very favorite book. As an owner of many tarot books, his is the most complete and I highly recommend its use by those who wish to study and read the cards. |

As usual, Tony Louis has presented another Tarot card with clear, concise definition. I was especially interested in his discussion of baptism as it related to The Water Bearer. It's a pleasure to read his monthly mini-thesis on the cards. We, the readers, are fortunate to be presented with such quality work. |

Crystal,
Each month a new Tarot archetype is discussed. Gemini is coming up when the sun enters Gemini later this spring. We still have to get through Pisces, Aries, and Taurus to reach Gemini. |

Tony Louis' series of essays continues to be both instructive and inspirational. The major arcana cards Temperance and the Wheel of Fortune are presented with literary artistry. I particularly appreciate his paragraphs devoted to Tarot Meditations While the Sun is in Sagittarius. I, for one, keep his tarot articles each month for future study. |

I really enjoyed this article about the Tarot and the sign Cancer. It's wonderful to be able to see the connections between mythology, Tarot, and astrology. It deepened my understanding and gave me a lot to think about. Thanks. |
