Another major trigger in this world event would be the planet Mars. Transiting Mars in Sagittarius at the time of this event was directly opposite the United States natal Mars position in Gemini. This Mars/Mars opposition involves the 1st and 7th house of the US natal chart(us versus them, us versus open enemies/war).

Any transiting planet in an opposition to another finds itself as the planet in charge and acting on the other planet. Mars rules many things, particularly action, agression, willfullness and the military. Mars will go retrograde on May 11, 2001 at 29 degrees of Sagittarius and retrograde back to 15 degrees of Sagittarius before turning direct on July 19, 2001. During this period of time Mars will again make contact with its position at the time of the collision (20-21 degrees)as well as with Pluto (15 degrees)while retrograde. In light of this it appears there will no short and quick solution to this situation. We can expect some further action and developments from this even into August 2001. For on August 18, 2001 Mars will pass the 20-21 degrees of Sagittarius in direct motion (moving forward).

We can also gleen some information on who may have been the initial agressor in this event. With Mars, who acted on whom here? Although on this thought we could flip flop back and forth depending on which US rising chart we are using, Sagittarius or Gemini.
